ISULAN, Sultan Kudarat — A local traffic enforcer was fatally shot on New Year’s Eve, cutting short his life just hours before the start of 2026. The incident occurred around 6:00 p.m. on December 31, 2025, in Purok Malingawon, Barangay Biwang, Bagumbayan, Sultan Kudarat.

The victim was identified as Ludivico Ramos Marzo, 61, a resident of Barangay New Pangasinan, Isulan. According to authorities, Marzo was riding a motorcycle along the highway with his child when he was suddenly ambushed by unidentified gunmen riding a bajaj motorcycle in a “riding-in-tandem” attack.

Police reports confirmed that Marzo sustained fatal gunshot wounds and was declared dead at the scene, while his child escaped uninjured.

The Sultan Kudarat Provincial Police are actively investigating the case. Authorities have yet to determine the motive behind the killing, though they are exploring whether it could be linked to Marzo’s duties as a traffic enforcer.

The Philippine National Police (PNP) is urging anyone with information regarding the incident to come forward and assist in the ongoing investigation. A hot pursuit operation has been launched to track down the suspects responsible.

This tragic incident marks a violent end to the year for the Isulan community and highlights the continuing risks faced by law enforcement personnel on duty.
