DATU UNSAY, Maguindanao del Sur — A 6-year-old boy was successfully rescued after being swept away by strong river currents, thanks to the quick response of the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) personnel who were conducting “Oplan Iwas Paputok” monitoring in the area.

According to reports, the minor was carried away by the rushing waters of the river when concerned residents urgently called for help. Acting swiftly, BFP responders rushed to the scene and retrieved the unconscious child from the water.

SFO2 Mohammad Jumuad, Chief Provincial Operations of the Office of the Provincial Fire Marshal, personally administered cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), which resulted in the boy regaining signs of life.

The child was immediately brought to a nearby hospital for proper medical care and is now under close observation by attending physicians.

Grateful residents expressed appreciation for the prompt and life-saving action of the responding authorities, which prevented a New Year tragedy for the family and the community.

Authorities continue to remind the public to remain vigilant, especially during holiday activities near bodies of water, to avoid similar incidents.
