GENERAL SALIPADA K. PENDATUN, Maguindanao del Sur — A man was critically wounded after he was shot by riding-in-tandem assailants on Wednesday night, November 20, 2025, in Barangay Lasangan.
The victim was identified as Muhidin Zainal, a resident of Barangay Pidtigiyan, according to initial reports from the General Salipada K. Pendatun Municipal Police Station (GSKP PNP).
Police said Zainal was walking along a dimly lit portion of the barangay when two unidentified suspects on a motorcycle approached him. One of the suspects allegedly drew a pistol-caliber firearm and opened fire at close range, hitting the victim several times. The attackers sped off toward an unknown direction after the shooting.
Responding police personnel immediately secured the crime scene while barangay responders rushed Zainal to a nearby medical facility for urgent treatment. He remains in critical condition.
Investigators are now pursuing leads and reviewing all possible motives, including the angle of personal grudge, which authorities say is the strongest line of inquiry at this stage.
The incident adds to the growing concerns over gun-related attacks in Maguindanao del Sur, where local residents and officials continue to call for tighter security measures and more proactive policing to curb violence in the area.
Police are urging anyone with information on the suspects to come forward as the investigation continues.
