Rajah Buayan, Maguindanao del Sur – Authorities have arrested suspected members of a notorious gun-for-hire group believed to be behind a string of shooting incidents in the municipality and nearby areas.

The joint operation was launched following a shooting incident on September 18, 2025, in Barangay Dapantis, Rajah Buayan. Personnel of the Rajah Buayan Municipal Police Station (RBMPS), led by PCpt. Joel S. Lebrilla, and soldiers from the 33rd Infantry Battalion of the Philippine Army, under Capt. Nico Encarnacion, carried out a hot pursuit and law enforcement operation on September 19 through the service of warrants of arrest for murder, frustrated murder, and destructive arson.

The suspects engaged authorities in a firefight before being subdued. Police said the arrested individuals were cohorts of the main subjects of the warrants of arrest. High-powered firearms believed to have been used in their previous criminal activities were also recovered from the scene.

The RBMPS emphasized that the successful operation reflects its firm commitment to dismantling organized crime groups and ensuring the safety of residents.

Meanwhile, police confirmed that at least two suspected gun-for-hire members were captured during the operation. Both are facing standing warrants of arrest for murder and frustrated murder issued by the court.

Authorities vowed to intensify their campaign against lawless elements in Maguindanao del Sur to prevent further violence and safeguard the community.
