Lanao del Sur – Authorities rescued a kidnapping victim and arrested two suspects following a swift police response in Malabang, Lanao del Sur, on August 26, 2025.
The operation was launched after concerned citizens reported the incident, prompting a composite team from the Lanao del Sur Police Provincial Office and the Special Action Force to track down the suspects. Their vehicle was intercepted at a COMELEC checkpoint in Barangay Matalin, leading to the safe rescue of the victim.
Police identified the suspects as alias Ansare, 47, and alias Ali, 50, both residents of Sultan Naga Dimaporo. Recovered from their possession were two caliber pistols. They are currently detained at the Malabang Municipal Police Station, which is preparing the filing of charges for kidnapping under R.A. 1084, illegal possession of firearms under R.A. 10591, and violation of the COMELEC Gun Ban.
Police Brigadier General Jaysen C. De Guzman, Regional Director of PRO BAR, commended the swift coordination of the operating units and stressed the vital role of the community in reporting crimes.
“This successful operation highlights the strong partnership between the police and the public, and reaffirms our commitment to fight criminality and maintain peace and order in the region,” De Guzman said.
