Lumba Bayabao, Lanao del Sur — A drug suspect was arrested during a buy-bust operation conducted by joint operatives of the Lanao del Sur Provincial Police Office (LDS-PPO) on the evening of July 15, 2025.

The operation, which took place at around 5:50 PM, led to the apprehension of a 48-year-old individual identified only by the alias “Popong,” a resident of Barangay Lama, Lumba Bayabao. The suspect was classified as a Street Level Individual (SLI) in the drug watchlist.

Authorities confirmed that the suspect is currently under the custody of the Lumba Bayabao Municipal Police Station. Charges for violation of Republic Act 9165, also known as the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002, are being readied against him.

Police Regional Office Bangsamoro Autonomous Region (PRO BAR), led by Regional Director Police Brigadier General Jaysen C. De Guzman, reaffirmed its commitment to the national campaign against illegal drugs. The successful operation underscores the Philippine National Police’s (PNP) ongoing efforts to combat drug-related crimes and safeguard communities.

“This accomplishment highlights our unwavering dedication to uphold the law and ensure the safety and well-being of our people, not just in Lanao del Sur but across the region,” PRO BAR said in a statement.

Authorities continue to urge the public to cooperate and report any illegal drug activities to help create a drug-free Bangsamoro region.
