RADJAH BUAYAN, MAGUINDANAO DEL SUR — A tricycle driver who was also a known village official was killed in an ambush on Tuesday morning, July 1, 2025, in Barangay Malibpolok, Radjah Buayan town, Maguindanao del Sur.
The victim, identified only by his nickname “Abie,” a member of the Maguindanaon ethnic group and a barangay kagawad, was driving his tricycle when he was attacked by unidentified armed men along a section of the highway in Barangay Malibpolok.
According to Captain Argie Eyana, chief of the Radjah Buayan Municipal Police Station, the victim died on the spot due to multiple gunshot wounds. The suspects quickly fled the scene aboard a motorcycle.
This incident adds to a growing list of shooting cases in the region. In just the past three days, more than five individuals have been reported killed in separate shooting incidents across the provinces of Maguindanao del Sur and Maguindanao del Norte.
Despite the alarming rise in gun violence, authorities have yet to issue a response or concrete action plan, raising concerns over the safety and security of residents in the affected areas.
