CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY — Authorities confiscated ₱1.97 million worth of suspected shabu and arrested four individuals during a buy-bust operation conducted at an inn in Barangay 29 on June 26, 2025, in a major breakthrough in the fight against illegal drugs in Northern Mindanao.

The City Drug Enforcement Unit (CDEU) of the Cagayan de Oro City Police Office (COCPO), under the supervision of Police Regional Office 10 (PRO10), launched the operation that led to the arrest of:

  • Alias “Robin”, 45, a resident of Barangay Iponan, tagged as a High-Value Individual (HVI);
  • Alias “Pedro”, 55, single, of Barangay Bulua;
  • Alias “PJ”, 60, married, from Aloran, Misamis Occidental;
  • Alias “Felly”, 44, married, from Balulang, Cagayan de Oro City.

The last three are all categorized as Street-Level Individuals (SLIs) in the drug trade.

During the operation, law enforcers seized 12 heat-sealed plastic sachets containing around 290 grams of suspected shabu, with an estimated Standard Drug Price of ₱1,972,000. Also recovered were an Android cellphone, a digital weighing scale, ₱1,200 in marked buy-bust money, and other drug paraphernalia.

Police records reveal that “Robin” had previously been arrested on drug-related charges in 2015 and was released in 2022. He was found in possession of the bulk of the seized illegal drugs. “Pedro” was previously convicted of murder, while “PJ” had a prior arrest for illegal logging. “Felly” was caught in the act of using illegal drugs alongside “PJ” during the buy-bust.

All suspects and confiscated items are currently under the custody of the CDEU for documentation and proper disposition. Charges for violations of Sections 5 and 11, Article II of Republic Act No. 9165 (Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002) will be filed against “Robin” and “Pedro,” while “PJ” and “Felly” will face charges under Sections 12 and 15 of the same law.

Police Brigadier General Rolindo M. Suguilon, Regional Director of PRO10, commended the CDEU for the successful operation.

“This arrest is another testament to our firm resolve to rid Northern Mindanao of drug personalities and dismantle their illegal networks. We will continue to intensify our anti-drug campaign through intelligence-driven and well-coordinated operations,” PBGEN Suguilon said.

Authorities are urging the public to continue supporting the campaign against illegal drugs by reporting any suspicious activities to their local police stations or through official hotlines.
