City of Mati, Davao Oriental – June 22, 2025 — Thousands of government employees and private sector representatives gathered at the Regional Evacuation Center in Sitio Tagawisan, Barangay Badas, for the province-wide Synchronized Tree Planting Activity in celebration of Davao Oriental’s 58th founding anniversary.

Held annually every June 22 in accordance with Executive Order No. 6, series of 2009, the synchronized tree planting initiative seeks to foster environmental responsibility and sustainability across the province.
This year’s activity, spearheaded by the Provincial Government of Davao Oriental, was among the major highlights of the week-long 58th Araw ng Davao Oriental celebration. The event showcased strong collaboration between various sectors—local and national government agencies, civil society, and private organizations—who united in a collective effort to plant trees and advocate for environmental protection.
Provincial officials lauded the turnout and participation, emphasizing the importance of solidarity in addressing ecological challenges. “This event is more than just a ceremonial planting. It’s a commitment to the future of Davao Oriental,” a provincial official stated.
The local community also expressed appreciation for being included in the initiative, viewing the event as both an opportunity and a responsibility. “We are proud to be part of this cause. Planting trees today means securing a better tomorrow for our children,” said one of the community volunteers.
As environmental issues continue to grow globally and locally, activities such as the synchronized tree planting serve as a vital reminder of the role every citizen plays in sustaining natural resources. Organizers hope to sustain the tradition and inspire even broader participation in the coming years.
With each tree planted, Davao Oriental not only celebrates its founding but also strengthens its commitment to a greener and more resilient future.
