A 20-year-old man was found lifeless by his mother in their home at Zone 1, Baluarte, Tagoloan, Misamis Oriental, in what authorities believe to be a case of suicide.
According to the Tagoloan Municipal Police Station, they received a report around 8:30 a.m. on Saturday from Barangay Captain Ramon Pagara about a possible suicide incident in the area.
The victim, identified only by the alias “Jimmy,” was a resident of the said barangay. Based on the mother’s account, Carmelita, she had just come from church and decided to visit her son’s house. After repeatedly calling for him with no response, she sought help from her other son to forcibly open the door.
Upon entering the house, they found Jimmy hanging in the living room, using a rope.
Further investigation revealed that Jimmy had previously threatened to take his own life following the death of a close cousin who also died by suicide in Lantapan, Bukidnon.
Authorities have ruled out foul play in the incident. The victim reportedly left a message that read, “Maypa maghikog” (Better to end it all). His mother remains uncertain about the exact problem her son was facing.
The police continue to investigate to uncover any additional details surrounding the tragedy.
