DAVAO CITY — Police have identified a bao-bao driver accused of allegedly harassing a 21-year-old student passenger in Tacunan, Davao City, but no formal complaint has yet been filed against him as of Saturday, September 26.
The Tugbok Police Station said the student, identified as Ayas “Yan,” 21, had already reported the incident through a police blotter following the alleged encounter at around 12:30 a.m. on September 25, 2026.
Police said they have since traced the identity of the driver, who is reportedly a resident of Catalunan Pequeño, Davao City.
The incident gained attention on social media after a video showing the encounter circulated online. Based on the initial account, the driver allegedly made advances toward the student during or after the trip.
The complainant reportedly told authorities that when they reached her residence, the driver allegedly stopped her and held her.
The circumstances surrounding what happened immediately before and after the alleged incident remain subject to police verification and the complainant’s account.
Tugbok police said they are waiting for the student to decide whether she will pursue a formal complaint against the driver. A police blotter entry, by itself, does not constitute the filing of a criminal case or establish the driver’s guilt.
Authorities have not publicly disclosed the driver’s name, and no formal charges have been reported as of the latest information available.
Police are expected to document the complainant’s account and gather other relevant information should she decide to pursue the matter formally.
The incident also highlights concerns involving passenger safety, particularly when commuters rely on informal or motorcycle-based transport services during late-night hours.
The driver remains presumed innocent unless proven otherwise in accordance with law.
