SULTAN SA BARONGIS, MAGUINDANAO DEL SUR — A man identified in initial reports only as “Abdul” was shot and critically wounded Thursday night, August 20, in Barangay Barurao, Sultan sa Barongis, Maguindanao del Sur, in yet another gun-related incident reported amid the continuing implementation of the election gun ban in the region.

Initial information indicated that Abdul sustained a gunshot wound to the abdomen. He was immediately rushed to a medical facility for treatment, where he remained in critical condition, according to preliminary reports.

Authorities have yet to release the victim’s complete identity and other details surrounding the shooting. The circumstances leading to the attack, including the possible motive, remain under investigation.

The identity of the gunman was also not immediately established, and it was not clear whether the assailant used a registered or unlicensed firearm.
