VALENCIA CITY, Bukidnon — Authorities have launched an intensive investigation after a 45-year-old man was found dead inside his residence in Purok 4, Barangay Laligan, Valencia City on the morning of June 7, 2026.

The victim was identified as Jeffrey Mueco, also known by neighbors as “Jeff,” a laborer originally from Molugan, Misamis Oriental.

According to initial police reports, Mueco’s lifeless body was discovered inside his house, lying near the bathroom area and covered in blood. Investigators noted that he had sustained a wound on his neck, suggesting that foul play may have been involved in his death.

Neighbors told authorities that they had seen the victim drinking with friends the day before the incident. After spending time with his companions, he reportedly returned home later that day.

One resident also reported hearing the victim talking to an unidentified individual on the night before he was found dead. The identity of the person remains unknown, and investigators are now looking into whether the conversation could be connected to the crime.

Police personnel immediately secured the area and conducted a crime scene examination to gather evidence that may help establish the circumstances surrounding the killing. Authorities are also reviewing possible leads and interviewing witnesses in an effort to identify the suspect and determine the motive behind the attack.

As of this writing, no arrests have been made, and investigators have yet to disclose whether the incident was robbery-related, a personal dispute, or linked to other circumstances.

The Valencia City Police Station assured the public that a thorough investigation is underway and that all available evidence is being carefully examined to bring those responsible to justice.

Authorities are likewise urging anyone with information that could help solve the case to come forward and coordinate with the nearest police station. Officials emphasized that community cooperation is crucial in identifying the perpetrator and ensuring accountability for the crime.
