Residents of Barangay Tamontaka in the municipality of Datu Odin Sinsuat were alarmed after an unexploded Rocket Propelled Grenade (RPG) round was discovered on Sunday morning, May 24.
According to initial reports, concerned residents immediately informed Barangay Chairwoman Bai Ivie Rose Sinsuat after spotting the explosive ordnance in the area. Barangay officials swiftly coordinated with the proper authorities to ensure the safety of the community and prevent any possible danger.
Authorities later responded to the scene to assess and secure the unexploded RPG ammunition. The discovery caused panic among some residents, fearing the potential risk posed by the live explosive device.
Investigators are now conducting a thorough inquiry to determine where the RPG round originated and how it ended up in Barangay Tamontaka. Authorities are also looking into whether the explosive may be connected to any recent incident or armed activity in the area.
Local officials reminded the public to avoid touching or approaching suspicious objects, especially possible explosive materials, and to immediately report such discoveries to authorities for proper handling and disposal.
