A 32-year-old man was shot dead in a brazen daylight attack while parked along the roadside in Crossing Tagubay, P-7, Barangay Canayugan, Bayugan City, Agusan del Sur on Monday morning, May 25, 2026.

The victim was identified by authorities as Rey Dalauta Molina, single, and a resident of P-6, Barangay De Oro, Butuan City.

According to the initial investigation, the shooting incident happened at around 10:50 a.m. while Molina was reportedly parked on the side of the road aboard his motorcycle. Witness accounts and police reports revealed that an unidentified suspect suddenly approached and repeatedly fired at the victim at close range.

Molina sustained multiple gunshot wounds to different parts of his body, causing his instantaneous death.

Investigators recovered six empty shells from a caliber .45 pistol at the crime scene, indicating that the gunman fired several times to ensure the victim’s death.

Authorities also recovered several items believed to be linked to illegal drug activities, including a digital weighing scale, several rolled aluminum foils, and multiple empty elongated transparent sachets commonly associated with illegal narcotics packaging.

Other personal belongings recovered from the scene included an Infinix cellular phone, a wallet containing identification cards, a helmet, and the victim’s motorcycle bearing plate number 612ZGE.

Police have yet to determine the motive behind the killing, but investigators are now looking into possible angles, including the alleged connection of the victim to illegal drugs based on the paraphernalia recovered at the scene.

The Philippine National Police in Bayugan City has launched a hot pursuit operation to identify and arrest the suspect or suspects responsible for the fatal shooting.

As of press time, Molina’s remains were brought to Bollozos Funeral Homes, where authorities said no family member had yet arrived to claim or visit the body.
