KIDAPAWAN CITY — A mother of three was shot dead by an unidentified assailant late Wednesday night, April 1, 2026, in what authorities are now investigating as a possible connected case to the recent killing of her husband.

The victim, identified only by the alias “Maymay,” an adult resident of Alim Street, was gunned down at around 11:00 p.m. by an unknown suspect. She sustained multiple gunshot wounds that led to her immediate death.
According to initial police reports, the incident occurred just days after her husband was also shot and killed in Barangay New Bohol, Kidapawan City, in a separate attack last week. The family was reportedly preparing for a kanduli—a traditional gathering to honor the dead—scheduled on Friday, April 3, when the second tragedy struck.
In a related report, authorities confirmed that at around 11:25 p.m. the same night, a 26-year-old woman identified as Maiky Perez-Tangkle was also shot dead inside her residence in Purok Lemonsito, Alim Street. Investigators said an armed man forcibly entered the victim’s home and fired multiple shots at close range.
Crime scene operatives recovered four empty shell casings from a .45 caliber firearm at the scene, indicating the use of a high-powered handgun in the attack.
Police have yet to determine whether the two incidents are directly connected, but the proximity in time and location has prompted deeper investigation into a possible link, including angles related to retaliation or targeted killings.
The Kidapawan City Police are conducting a full-scale investigation, including gathering witness statements, reviewing possible CCTV footage in the area, and establishing the identities of the suspects involved.
Authorities have assured the public that efforts are underway to bring the perpetrators to justice, while urging anyone with information to come forward as the city reels from the back-to-back killings that have left families grieving and communities alarmed.
