TALACOGON, Agusan del Sur — Authorities and emergency responders continue to closely monitor the fire that engulfed a match factory in SINAFAL, Purok Durian, Barangay San Agustin, as firefighting operations remain ongoing to fully extinguish the blaze.

The M.A.S.E.N.D.O Rescue Team remains on standby to respond to any arising emergencies, while personnel from the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) stations in Talacogon, La Paz, and San Luis sustain coordinated efforts to contain the fire.

Initial reports indicate that the incident required extensive coordination among multiple fire stations and rescue units to prevent the flames from spreading further and to minimize damage to nearby properties and ensure the safety of residents.

The fire, which broke out on Tuesday, April 14, caused heavy damage to the wood-based factory, particularly its equipment and highly flammable materials that were quickly consumed by the flames. The incident is expected to result in significant financial losses and has temporarily disrupted the livelihood of workers employed at the facility.

Authorities and local officials have also commended the unwavering dedication and sacrifice of firefighters and responders, who braved intense heat and danger to contain the blaze. Despite exhaustion and risks, they continued operations to protect the community.
