A major anti-drug operation in Lanao del Sur has dealt a significant blow to the region’s illegal narcotics trade after authorities arrested three individuals and seized approximately ₱6.8 million worth of suspected shabu during a coordinated buy-bust on March 24, 2026.

The operation, conducted in Barangay Pantar, Lumbatan, was led by the Lanao del Sur Police Provincial Office (LDS PPO) through its Provincial Drug Enforcement Unit (PDEU) and Provincial Special Operations Group (PSOG). The effort was reinforced by multiple law enforcement units, including the Regional Drug Enforcement Unit (RDEU) and Regional Special Operations Group (RSOG) of PRO BARMM, the 1st and 2nd Provincial Mobile Force Companies, the 1403rd and 1402nd Maneuver Companies of RMFB 14-A, the Provincial Intelligence Unit, the Philippine Drug Enforcement Group (PDEG) BARMM, the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) Lanao del Sur Provincial Office, and police stations from Balindong, Binidayan, and Lumbatan.
Authorities said the suspects—two men and one woman—were apprehended immediately after completing a drug transaction with an undercover operative acting as a poseur buyer. The swift execution of the operation prevented the distribution of a substantial volume of illegal drugs within the province and nearby areas.
Confiscated from the suspects were six knot-tied plastic bags containing a total of 1,000 grams of suspected methamphetamine hydrochloride, locally known as shabu. Also recovered were the marked buy-bust money, an identification card, an eco bag labeled “ALBERTO,” and a black sling bag believed to have been used in transporting the illegal substance.
Law enforcers also seized two vehicles allegedly used by the suspects in their operations: a mint green Yamaha 155 Aerox motorcycle and a red Mazda sedan. These assets are now part of the evidence as investigators build the case against the arrested individuals.
The suspects and all confiscated items are currently under police custody as authorities prepare charges for violations of Republic Act 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
LDS PPO Provincial Director Police Colonel Caezar P. Cabuhat commended the joint efforts of all participating units, highlighting the operation as a testament to strengthened inter-agency coordination in the fight against illegal drugs.
“This successful operation delivers a major blow to illegal drug activities and significantly contributes to maintaining peace and order in Lanao del Sur and nearby areas,” Cabuhat said.
Authorities reiterated their commitment to intensifying anti-drug operations across the province, warning that sustained enforcement efforts will continue against individuals and groups involved in the illegal drug trade.
