The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) has forecast generally fair but unstable weather conditions across Mindanao, with isolated rainshowers and localized thunderstorms expected to persist from early Monday morning until Tuesday.

According to PAGASA’s 5:00 a.m. regional weather bulletin issued by its Mindanao Regional Services Division (MINPRSD), the entire island will experience partly cloudy to cloudy skies, punctuated by sudden thunderstorms that could trigger flash floods or landslides, particularly in low-lying and mountainous areas.
Unsettled weather across regions
In the Zamboanga Peninsula, including Zamboanga City and the provinces of Zamboanga del Norte, Zamboanga del Sur, and Zamboanga Sibugay, skies will remain partly cloudy but may turn overcast with intermittent rainshowers and thunderstorms. Temperatures are expected to range between 20°C and 33°C.
Similar weather patterns will prevail in Northern Mindanao, covering Bukidnon, Camiguin, Lanao del Norte, Misamis Occidental, and Misamis Oriental. Temperature ranges in the region will vary from a cooler 17°C in upland Bukidnon to as high as 32°C in coastal areas.
In the Davao Region, including Davao City and surrounding provinces such as Davao del Norte, Davao del Sur, Davao Oriental, Davao de Oro, and Davao Occidental, partly cloudy skies will dominate but with increasing chances of afternoon or evening thunderstorms. Temperatures could peak at 34°C.
Rain risks extend to SOCCSKSARGEN, Caraga, and BARMM
The SOCCSKSARGEN region, including North Cotabato, South Cotabato, Sultan Kudarat, and Sarangani, will also experience similar weather disturbances, with temperatures reaching up to 35°C in some areas.
Meanwhile, in the Caraga Region—covering Agusan del Norte, Agusan del Sur, Surigao del Norte, Surigao del Sur, and Dinagat Islands—residents can expect scattered rainshowers, particularly in the afternoon or evening, with temperatures ranging between 21°C and 34°C.
In the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM), including Cotabato City, Basilan, Lanao del Sur, Sulu, Tawi-Tawi, Maguindanao del Norte, and Maguindanao del Sur, weather conditions will remain largely the same—partly cloudy skies with possible thunderstorms and temperatures ranging from 20°C to 34°C.
Winds and sea conditions
Across Mindanao, winds will be light to moderate, generally coming from the east to northeast. Coastal waters will be slight to moderate, with wave heights ranging from 0.5 to 1.8 meters, making sea travel relatively manageable but still requiring caution during thunderstorms.
Public advised to remain vigilant
PAGASA warned that while much of the day may appear calm, localized thunderstorms could develop rapidly and bring heavy downpours, lightning, and gusty winds. Residents living in landslide-prone and flood-prone areas are advised to remain alert, especially during periods of intense rainfall.
Authorities also urged fishermen and small vessel operators to exercise caution, particularly when thunderstorms develop offshore.
As Mindanao transitions through this period of variable weather, the public is encouraged to stay updated with official bulletins and take precautionary measures to minimize risks.
