COTABATO CITY — A 26-year-old man was shot multiple times by unidentified assailants in a brazen early morning attack in Barangay Rosary Heights 10 on Sunday, March 22, 2026, authorities said.

The victim was identified as Datu Hashim Glang Dagloc, a married, self-employed resident of Lower Bitara, Malagapas, in the same barangay.

Initial police investigation revealed that Dagloc was walking along Phase 1, 3rd Road in Purok Bitara at around 12:35 a.m. when two motorcycles carrying four unidentified men suddenly approached him. Without warning, the suspects opened fire, hitting the victim several times before fleeing the scene.

Concerned citizens immediately rushed Dagloc to the Cotabato Regional Medical Center (CRMC) for urgent medical treatment. His condition has not yet been disclosed as of this writing.

Authorities arrived at the scene approximately five minutes after the incident and launched a swift investigation led by duty investigators. The Scene of the Crime Operatives (SOCO), also referred to as the Regional Forensic Unit in the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region, were called in to process the crime scene and gather evidence.

Police are currently conducting a manhunt to identify and locate the suspects, as well as determine the motive behind the attack. Investigators are also looking into possible leads, including whether the shooting was connected to personal disputes or other criminal activities.

The incident adds to ongoing concerns over gun violence involving motorcycle-riding suspects, a recurring pattern in shooting cases across various parts of the country.

Authorities are urging anyone with information that could aid the investigation to come forward.
