PROSPERIDAD, Agusan del Sur — Authorities confiscated a cache of unlicensed firearms and ammunition during the service of a search warrant against a male suspect known by the alias “Lon” in Barangay Mapaga on the morning of March 26, 2026.

Operatives from the 1st Agusan del Sur Provincial Mobile Force Company (PMFC) implemented Search Warrant No. 2026-2 at around 9:00 a.m., targeting the suspect’s residence in Purok 5. The warrant, issued on March 25, 2026, by the Regional Trial Court Branch 7 in Bayugan City, cited alleged violations of Republic Act No. 10591.

During the operation, law enforcers recovered multiple high-powered and improvised firearms, many of which lacked serial numbers—a violation under the country’s gun control law. Among the seized items were three improvised shotguns without serial numbers, a .38 caliber revolver, a .357 caliber revolver, a .45 caliber pistol bearing serial number 612814, and a 9mm pistol. Authorities also confiscated assorted ammunition and magazines for the recovered weapons.

Police said the presence of several unregistered firearms, particularly those without serial numbers, raises concerns about their possible use in criminal activities, as such weapons are difficult to trace.

The suspect is now facing criminal complaints for violation of Republic Act No. 10591, which penalizes the unlawful possession, manufacture, and transfer of firearms and ammunition.

All confiscated items were brought to the PMFC headquarters for proper documentation and inventory. Authorities are currently preparing the necessary charges to be filed in court.

Officials reiterated their commitment to intensifying operations against illegal firearms, emphasizing that such efforts are crucial in maintaining peace and order in the province.
