MANILA, Philippines — March 27, 2026 — Large parts of Mindanao are expected to experience cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms over the next 24 hours, as the easterlies continue to affect the region, according to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA).

In its latest regional weather forecast issued at 5:00 a.m., PAGASA warned that the prevailing weather system may bring moderate to at times heavy rains, raising the risk of flash floods and landslides, particularly in vulnerable and mountainous areas.
Widespread Rainfall Across Mindanao
The weather bureau said that nearly all provinces in Mindanao—including those in the Zamboanga Peninsula, Northern Mindanao, Davao Region, SOCCSKSARGEN, Caraga, and the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM)—will experience cloudy skies with rainshowers and thunderstorms throughout the forecast period.
In the Zamboanga Peninsula, including Zamboanga City, Zamboanga del Norte, Zamboanga del Sur, Zamboanga Sibugay, and Isabela City, temperatures are expected to range from 23°C to 34°C, with persistent rain-bearing clouds.
Similar weather conditions are forecast over Northern Mindanao provinces such as Bukidnon, Camiguin, Lanao del Norte, Misamis Occidental, and Misamis Oriental, where temperatures may range between 21°C and 33°C.
Davao and SOCCSKSARGEN Under Rainy Skies
In the Davao Region—including Metro Davao, Davao del Norte, Davao del Sur, Davao Oriental, Davao de Oro, and Davao Occidental—residents can expect continued rainshowers and thunderstorms, with temperatures ranging from 21°C to 32°C.
The same weather pattern will prevail across SOCCSKSARGEN, covering North Cotabato, South Cotabato, Sultan Kudarat, and Sarangani, where temperatures may reach up to 34°C despite cloud cover.
Caraga and BARMM Also Affected
In the Caraga Region, including Agusan del Norte, Agusan del Sur, Surigao del Norte, Surigao del Sur, and Dinagat Islands, intermittent rains and thunderstorms are expected, with some areas experiencing partly cloudy skies that may still bring sudden downpours.
Meanwhile, in BARMM, including Cotabato City, Basilan, Lanao del Sur, Sulu, Tawi-Tawi, Maguindanao del Norte, and Maguindanao del Sur, similar conditions are forecast, with temperatures ranging from 22°C to 34°C.
Sea Conditions and Winds
Across Mindanao, winds will be light to moderate, blowing from the northeast to north. Coastal waters are expected to be slight to moderate, with wave heights ranging from 0.6 to 1.8 meters, making sea travel generally manageable but still requiring caution, especially during thunderstorms.
Advisory
PAGASA urged residents in low-lying and landslide-prone areas to remain vigilant, as localized heavy rains may trigger flooding and slope failures. Fisherfolk and small vessel operators were also advised to monitor weather updates before venturing out to sea.
The agency continues to monitor the easterlies affecting the eastern sections of the country, which are expected to sustain the current weather pattern over Mindanao in the coming days.
