The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration has warned of scattered rainshowers and thunderstorms across Mindanao as easterlies continue to affect the region, raising concerns over possible flash floods and landslides in vulnerable areas.

In its 5:00 AM regional weather forecast issued Monday, PAGASA said most parts of Mindanao will experience partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rainshowers or thunderstorms from 5:00 AM today until 5:00 AM tomorrow. While generally fair weather is expected for much of the day, localized thunderstorms may develop, particularly in the afternoon or evening.
Authorities cautioned that severe thunderstorms could trigger sudden flooding and landslides, especially in low-lying and mountainous areas.
Winds and Sea Conditions
Winds across Mindanao will be light to moderate, blowing from the northeast to north. Coastal waters will remain slight to moderate, with wave heights ranging from 0.6 to 2.5 meters. However, areas such as Camiguin, Davao Region, and parts of Caraga may experience moderate coastal conditions, posing risks to small sea vessels.
Regional Outlook
Across the Zamboanga Peninsula, including Zamboanga City, Zamboanga del Norte, Zamboanga del Sur, Zamboanga Sibugay, and Isabela City, temperatures will range between 22°C and 35°C. Similar weather conditions—partly cloudy skies with possible thunderstorms—are expected throughout the day and night.
In Northern Mindanao, including Bukidnon, Lanao del Norte, Misamis Occidental, Misamis Oriental, and Camiguin, temperatures will range from 17°C in upland areas to as high as 33°C. Rainshowers may occur intermittently, with moderate winds affecting coastal zones.
The Davao Region, including Metro Davao, Davao del Norte, Davao del Sur, and Davao Oriental, will experience warmer conditions, with temperatures reaching up to 34°C. Moderate winds and coastal conditions are expected, with occasional thunderstorms likely.
SOCCSKSARGEN and Caraga
In SOCCSKSARGEN, including North Cotabato, South Cotabato, Sultan Kudarat, and Sarangani, temperatures will range from 21°C to 34°C. Rainshowers may intensify during thunderstorms, particularly in inland areas.
Meanwhile, the Caraga Region, covering Agusan del Norte, Agusan del Sur, Surigao del Norte, Surigao del Sur, and Dinagat Islands, will also experience similar weather patterns, with temperatures between 20°C and 33°C. Coastal areas may encounter moderate sea conditions.
BARMM Areas
In the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM), including Cotabato City, Basilan, Lanao del Sur, Sulu, Tawi-Tawi, Maguindanao del Norte, and Maguindanao del Sur, temperatures will range from 20°C to 34°C. Light to moderate winds will prevail, with slight to moderate seas.
Advisory
PAGASA urged residents to remain vigilant, particularly during thunderstorms, as sudden heavy rains may lead to flash floods and landslides. Fisherfolk and small boat operators are also advised to take precautionary measures when venturing into the sea.
The weather bureau continues to monitor conditions closely and advises the public to stay updated through official bulletins and advisories.
