MALABANG, Lanao del Sur — A long-standing family conflict, locally known as rido, was peacefully settled on Thursday morning, February 26, 2026, after members of the Macarampat Gaos and Magarang Mauna families agreed to reconcile during a community-backed settlement held in Barangay Mable.

The peace settlement, conducted from 9:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m., brought together clan members, local leaders, and security forces in a significant step toward restoring harmony in the area. The gathering underscored the importance of dialogue and traditional conflict resolution mechanisms in communities across the Bangsamoro region.
Authorities from the Philippine National Police, particularly the Malabang Municipal Police Station under the supervision of PCPT Esmer R. Gahi, provided security and increased police visibility throughout the activity to ensure a peaceful and orderly process. Police officials emphasized that supporting community-led peace initiatives remains a key part of maintaining stability in conflict-prone areas.
The settlement was marked by messages of reconciliation and faith, with participants expressing gratitude for the opportunity to end the dispute without further violence. Community leaders highlighted that forgiveness and mutual respect were chosen over prolonged conflict, reflecting teachings that promote unity and peaceful coexistence.
Key officials and stakeholders also played a crucial role in facilitating the agreement. Among those present were Deputy Minister Osmeña Montañer Alhaj of the Ministry of Public Order and Safety, along with local leaders including Mayor Nasif T. Marohom of Marogong, Lanao del Sur, Councilor Al Fayeez Taog of Malabang, Lanao del Sur, and other officials and security personnel who helped mediate and ensure the success of the settlement.
Military representatives also attended the event, including officers from the Philippine Army, alongside investigators and local officials who contributed to the dialogue process that ultimately led to the amicable agreement.
Community leaders described the successful settlement as a testament to the resilience and unity of the people of Malabang, Lanao del Sur. They emphasized that choosing dialogue over division strengthens communities and sets an example for resolving disputes through peaceful means.
