MALAYBALAY CITY, Bukidnon — Authorities are investigating the death of a 77-year-old German national who was found lifeless inside his residence in Purok 2, Barangay San Jose, Malaybalay City, on Tuesday evening, in what police believe to be a case of apparent suicide.

The victim, identified by authorities as alias “Johnson,” was discovered at around past 7:00 p.m. after allegedly taking his own life. Responding police officers and emergency personnel confirmed that the victim was already dead when they arrived at the scene.

Initial reports revealed that the victim’s wife, a former barangay kagawad in the area, had earlier left their residence. Upon returning home, she was shocked to find her husband in a lifeless condition. The family’s caretaker was the first to notice the incident and immediately informed the authorities.

Personnel from the Scene of the Crime Operatives (SOCO) conducted a thorough examination of the scene and the victim’s body to determine the circumstances surrounding the incident. Investigators said that, based on initial findings, there were no indications of foul play.

Police have yet to release further details while the investigation remains ongoing. Authorities are also coordinating with the victim’s family and the German Embassy for proper documentation and assistance.

Local officials expressed sympathy to the bereaved family and urged the public to remain sensitive and respectful toward the victim and his loved ones during this difficult time.

Meanwhile, police reminded the public of the importance of seeking help and support for individuals experiencing emotional distress or mental health struggles. Residents are encouraged to reach out to mental health professionals, local health offices, or trusted community members when in need.

The body of the victim was turned over to the family for proper disposition following standard procedures.
