DAVAO CITY — A member of the Civilian Armed Forces Geographical Unit (CAFGU) was stabbed to death by his own brother-in-law following a heated argument while drinking inside his home in Barangay Buda, Marilog District.


Police identified the victim as Ritchie Camacho Villarba, 36, a CAFGU member and resident of Purok 5. The suspect was identified as Christian Dey Bantillan, 33, Villarba’s brother-in-law.
According to the Marilog Police Station 12, Villarba and Bantillan were drinking together inside the victim’s house at around 10:00 p.m. when an argument broke out. The disagreement reportedly escalated, causing tensions to flare.
Investigation revealed that Villarba attempted to flee his home to avoid further confrontation, but Bantillan chased after him and repeatedly stabbed him with a knife. The brutal attack was witnessed by the victim’s wife and child.
Villarba sustained multiple stab wounds and died at the scene, leaving his family devastated.
The suspect fled immediately after the incident, but police launched a hot pursuit operation that led to his arrest shortly after. He is now in police custody and facing charges in connection with the killing.
Authorities are continuing their investigation to determine the full circumstances surrounding the incident, including the motive behind the fatal altercation.
