BULUAN, Maguindanao del Sur — A 29-year-old man was arrested in a successful firearms buy-bust operation conducted by the Philippine National Police (PNP) along the national highway in Barangay Poblacion, Buluan, Maguindanao del Sur on the afternoon of January 9, 2026.
The operation, carried out at around 2:00 p.m., was part of Oplan Paglalansag Omega and was spearheaded by the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group–Bangsamoro Autonomous Region (CIDG-BAR) in coordination with the 42nd Special Action Company (SAC), 4th Special Action Battalion of the PNP Special Action Force led by PCaptain Ocampo Mamucay Ambabang, PIT MDS-RIU15, and the Buluan Municipal Police Station.
Authorities identified the suspect as Guiadzali Mantila Mama, 29, a resident of Barangay Poblacion 2, Cotabato City.
Seized from the suspect were a 5.56 caliber rifle, a short magazine for 5.56, 18 rounds of 5.56 ammunition, a 9mm revolver, and four rounds of 9mm ammunition. Also recovered was a green backpack containing ₱1,000 genuine money placed on top of 109 pieces of ₱1,000 boodle money, used during the entrapment operation.
The suspect is currently detained at the CIDG-BAR jail facility and is set to face charges for violation of Sections 28 and 32 of Republic Act 10591, or the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act, covering illegal possession and unlawful sale of firearms and ammunition.
Police said the operation is part of intensified efforts to curb the proliferation of loose firearms in Maguindanao del Sur and maintain peace and security in the area.
