Marantao, Lanao del Sur — Authorities and relatives are urgently searching for Aleem Abdulcader Pacalna Abbas Jr., a respected Islamic leader and Secretary-General of the Markazosshabab Al-Muslim Fil-Filibbin Foundation, who has been missing since December 25, 2025, in Barangay Ilian, Marantao.

According to the Marantao Municipal Police Station, Abbas was last seen around 8:00 a.m. on Christmas Day. His disappearance has raised strong suspicions of abduction, with his organization condemning what they believe was a targeted kidnapping.

In an official statement released December 26, the Markazosshabab Foundation denounced the incident as a “grave violation of Philippine law” and “a direct assault on personal liberty and public order.” The group also revealed that there had been attempts to abduct other members, signaling a broader threat to their organization.

The foundation asserted that “the identities of those responsible have been established,” and alleged that the motive was to intimidate and destabilize their community. They insisted that such acts “find no justification in law, morality, or faith” and stressed that Islam rejects violence, coercion, and the unlawful deprivation of freedom.

“We demand the immediate and unconditional release of our kidnapped Secretary-General,” the group stated, calling on the Philippine National Police and other law enforcement bodies to act swiftly, ensure Abbas’ safety, and bring the perpetrators to justice.

While authorities have yet to disclose details of their ongoing investigation, the family and organization continue to appeal to the public for information that could lead to Abbas’ location.

As the search enters its second week, anxiety grows among local Muslim leaders and residents who fear this incident may trigger wider insecurity in the area. The Markazosshabab Foundation vowed to pursue all legal measures available to uphold justice and accountability.

Anyone with relevant information is encouraged to contact local authorities immediately.
