DAVAO CITY — A 27-year-old woman was killed after allegedly being stabbed by her husband inside their home along Quezon Boulevard, Barangay 23-C, Davao City, on Tuesday morning, January 27, 2026, authorities confirmed.

Police identified the victim as alias “Rea,” 27, while the suspect was identified as alias “Yusop,” 38, a tricycle driver. Both were residents of the area.

According to the Davao City Police Office (DCPO), the incident happened at around 8:50 a.m. Initial investigation revealed that the suspect allegedly discovered his wife’s supposed extramarital relationship through Facebook Messenger, triggering an emotional confrontation.

Police said the victim was stabbed while asleep. Despite her injuries, she managed to run outside their house before collapsing due to severe blood loss. She was rushed to a nearby hospital but was declared dead on arrival.

Authorities also reported that the victim’s mother was injured after attempting to intervene and stop the suspect. She sustained wounds during the struggle but is now in stable condition and recovering.

A 26-centimeter hunting knife believed to have been used in the killing was recovered at the crime scene.

The suspect was arrested peacefully without resistance and is now in police custody. He is facing charges of parricide for the death of his wife and frustrated parricide for the injuries sustained by his mother-in-law.

Police said further investigation is ongoing as they prepare the necessary charges against the suspect, while reminding the public to seek lawful and peaceful means of resolving domestic conflicts and emotional distress.
