DAVAO CITY — Authorities seized six boxes of parcels containing suspected high-grade marijuana and cannabis-infused products during a joint operation at a courier company warehouse in Bunawan, Davao City, on Thursday morning, January 8.

Operatives of the National Bureau of Investigation–Southeastern Mindanao Regional Office (NBI-SEMRO) and the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency Region 11 (PDEA-11) intercepted 11 parcels, six of which tested positive for high-grade kush, marijuana-laced vape cartridges, and marijuana oil.

The confiscated contraband is estimated to be worth ₱5 million, authorities said.

Based on shipping labels, the parcels originated from overseas and were bound for multiple destinations in Luzon and parts of Mindanao, including Maguindanao, Cotabato City, Davao Oriental, Davao del Norte, and Davao City.

“This operation underscores how courier services are being exploited as channels for illegal drug trafficking,” an official said. “We are tightening monitoring and screening of parcels to prevent their use in illicit transactions.”

The seized marijuana and cannabis products were turned over to the PDEA laboratory for confirmatory testing and proper disposition. Investigators are now tracing both the senders and intended recipients to identify the syndicate behind the shipment.

Authorities urged the public and courier employees to immediately report suspicious packages or activities to help disrupt drug trafficking networks and protect communities.
