ZAMBOANGA CITY — The Zamboanga City Jail Male Dormitory (ZCJMD) has once again affirmed its commitment to maintaining a drug-free environment following a surprise Greyhound Operation conducted on December 1, 2025, in coordination with the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) Regional Office IX.

Led by Jail Superintendent Jonairy Floro Sitchon, ZCJMD personnel, with the support of the PDEA IX K9 Unit, carried out a meticulous inspection of the facility. The operation involved body frisking, dormitory and cubicle searches, and K9-assisted sweeps to ensure no corner of the facility was left unchecked.

The joint team reported zero findings of illegal drugs, drug paraphernalia, or related contraband. This outcome reinforces ZCJMD’s record as a secure, rehabilitation-focused facility committed to the safety and development of persons deprived of liberty (PDLs).

“Today’s successful operation reflects our unwavering dedication to the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology’s ‘Safekeeping and Development’ mandate,” said Supt. Sitchon. “We remain committed to providing a safe, drug-free environment that supports rehabilitation and maintains the integrity of the facility.”

ZCJMD assures the public that both regular and surprise anti-drug operations will continue in partnership with law enforcement agencies, upholding safety, discipline, and order within the institution.

The facility’s consistent drug-free record underscores the ongoing collaboration between jail authorities and law enforcement to create a secure environment conducive to rehabilitation, discipline, and the protection of all inmates.
