The Police Regional Office 12 (PRO-12) significantly strengthened its frontline capabilities following the blessing and ceremonial turnover of modern firearms and protective equipment led by Regional Director PBGen. Arnold P. Ardiente on December 15, 2025.

The turnover included seven units of 5.56mm Light Machine Guns “MERTSAV” and 200 units of Enhanced Combat Helmets Level III, marking a major upgrade in both firepower and personnel protection for PRO-12 units operating on the ground. The newly acquired equipment is intended to improve operational effectiveness in responding to criminal activities, insurgency, and other threats to public safety across Central Mindanao.

According to PRO-12, the weapons and helmets will be distributed to key operational units, including regional response teams and police elements deployed in high-risk and conflict-prone areas. The move is aimed at bolstering readiness during law enforcement operations while ensuring the safety and survivability of police personnel.

PBGen. Ardiente emphasized that modern and reliable equipment is essential to effective policing, particularly in areas where officers face heightened security challenges. He underscored that the initiative reflects PRO-12’s commitment to equipping its personnel with tools that match the demands of their mission—protecting communities while upholding peace and order.

The turnover is part of the PNP’s continuing modernization and capability enhancement program, designed to ensure that police forces remain prepared, responsive, and resilient amid evolving security threats. PRO-12 officials said the upgraded gear is expected to improve operational confidence on the ground and reinforce the region’s overall public safety posture.
