LINAMON, Lanao del Norte — The Philippine National Police in Northern Mindanao has scored another significant blow against illegal firearms and explosives following the successful implementation of a search warrant that led to the confiscation of assorted weapons, including a hand grenade, in Barangay Samburon, Linamon, Lanao del Norte on December 23, 2025.

\PBGEN Christopher N. Abrahano, Regional Director of Police Regional Office 10 (PRO-10), lauded the operatives of the 1005th Maneuver Company, Regional Mobile Force Battalion (RMFB) 10 for the well-coordinated operation, which resulted in the arrest of a 33-year-old suspect identified only as Rico, a resident of the barangay.
The operation was carried out from 7:56 a.m. to 1:03 p.m. by virtue of a Search Warrant for violation of Republic Act 10591, or the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act, issued by Regional Trial Court Branch 4 in Iligan City on December 17, 2025.
During the search, police recovered a 9mm pistol without a serial number, two 9mm Luger cartridges, a steel magazine, a defaced caliber .38 revolver, and an MK2 fragmentation hand grenade, raising serious concerns over the potential use of the weapons for criminal activities.
The operation was spearheaded by the 1005th MC in coordination with the Provincial Drug Enforcement Unit (PDEU) of the Lanao del Norte Police Provincial Office, Provincial Intelligence Unit (PIU), S2-RMFB 10, and the Linamon Municipal Police Station. To ensure transparency and legality, the search was witnessed by two barangay kagawads and a media representative.
The suspect is currently under the custody of the Linamon Municipal Police Station for documentation and further investigation. The confiscated firearms and explosives will be turned over to the Lanao del Norte Provincial Forensic Unit and the Provincial Explosives and Canine Unit (PECU) in Tubod for proper examination and disposition.
PBGEN Abrahano said the successful operation underscores the PNP’s unwavering commitment to suppressing the proliferation of loose firearms and explosives, in line with the focused agenda of PLTGEN Jose Melencio C. Nartatez Jr., Acting Chief of the Philippine National Police.
“This accomplishment reflects the dedication and professionalism of our troops on the ground and our sustained efforts to keep communities safe from threats posed by illegal weapons,” Abrahano said.
Authorities assured the public that intensified operations against illegal firearms will continue across Northern Mindanao to maintain peace and security in the region.
