MARAMAG, Bukidnon — Authorities have served a warrant of arrest against a former rebel finance staffer facing a string of serious criminal charges, including murder, frustrated murder, and multiple counts of attempted murder.

The suspect, identified only by the alias “Maricel,” 31, was arrested at around 3:00 p.m. on December 15, 2025, inside the 89th Infantry Battalion headquarters in Purok 10, South Poblacion, Maramag, Bukidnon, according to security officials.

Police said Maricel previously served as Staff Finance of the Executive Committee, North Central Mindanao Regional Committee, an underground organization linked to insurgent activities. She was also listed in the Periodic Status Report (PSR) for the third quarter of 2025, indicating she remained under government monitoring.

Authorities confirmed that multiple warrants had been issued against the suspect, covering murder, frustrated murder, and several counts of attempted murder, stemming from separate incidents tied to armed activities.

Following her arrest, Maricel is currently under the custody of the 89th Infantry Battalion, pending court approval of a motion for immediate custody that will allow her formal turnover to the appropriate detention facility.

Security officials said the arrest marks a significant step in enforcing outstanding warrants against individuals implicated in violent crimes and reiterated their commitment to pursuing justice while upholding due process.

Further details on the specific cases and court proceedings are expected to be released once legal processes advance.
