MATANAO, Davao del Sur — A notorious drug peddler long monitored by authorities was finally arrested during a successful buy-bust operation conducted by the Matanao Municipal Police Station at around 6:15 p.m. on Tuesday, November 11, 2025, in Barangay San Jose, Matanao.
The suspect, known by the alias “Boss,” 59 years old, married, and a resident of Barangay Poblacion, Matanao, was apprehended after selling three sachets of suspected shabu to a police poseur buyer.
During the operation, police also seized 11 more sachets of shabu with an estimated street value of ₱24,992, along with a hand grenade recovered from the suspect’s possession.
The arrest was carried out by operatives under the leadership of PCPT Junrey L. Torres, Officer-in-Charge of the Matanao Municipal Police Station. Torres revealed that the suspect had been the subject of their long-standing monitoring due to his persistent involvement in the illegal drug trade.
“We have been planning this operation for quite some time. The suspect was known for his elusiveness, but this time, the law has finally caught up with him,” PCPT Torres said.
The suspect is now facing charges for violating Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002, and Republic Act 9516, which penalizes illegal possession of explosives.
Authorities have commended the successful operation as part of their intensified campaign against illegal drugs and other criminal activities in Davao del Sur.
