Cotabato City — A self-employed family man was shot dead late Friday night, November 28, 2025, in Purok Solaiman, Barangay Rosary Heights 3, in what authorities describe as a brazen attack just a few meters away from the victim’s home.
The victim, identified as Moner Dipatuan Badar, married and a resident of Purok Palimba 2 in the same barangay, was gunned down at around 10:00 p.m. while stepping out of his house after being told that someone was supposedly coming to meet him. According to police reports, as soon as Badar exited their home, the unidentified assailant suddenly appeared and shot him multiple times.
Badar sustained gunshot wounds to the head and various parts of his body. Responding officers rushed him to the Cotabato Regional and Medical Center (CRMC), but he was declared dead on arrival.
Police from Station 1, led by PMAJ Teofisto Ferrer Jr., recovered more than ten fired cartridge cases believed to be from a caliber .45 pistol, the firearm suspected to have been used in the killing.
A concerned resident reported the shooting to authorities at around 10:05 p.m., prompting immediate deployment of a patrol team and investigators who arrived at the scene by 10:03 p.m., confirming the attack and initiating emergency transport of the victim.
The gunman fled swiftly after carrying out the crime, leaving the victim’s family in deep grief and the community alarmed over yet another violent incident in the city.
As of press time, the identity of the suspect and the motive behind the killing remain unknown.
Police assure the public that a thorough investigation is underway to identify and arrest the perpetrator, and are urging anyone with information to come forward to aid in the case.
