Police launch manhunt for suspects in brutal daylight attack

COLUMBIO, SULTAN KUDARAT — A 60-year-old senior citizen was seriously injured after being robbed and shot by two unidentified men in broad daylight on Wednesday morning, October 29, in Purok 5, Barangay Telafas.

The victim, known in the community as Tatay Jaime, a resident and owner of a small rubber plantation, was walking along a local road around 11:00 a.m. when the two assailants ambushed him. According to police reports, the suspects declared a holdup before shooting the elderly man and taking his money and cellphone.

Witnesses found the victim bloodied in a grassy area where he was dragged by the suspects. He was immediately rushed to a nearby hospital for treatment of a head wound and other injuries.

Authorities from the Columbio Municipal Police Station (MPS) strongly condemned the attack and assured the public that a manhunt operation is ongoing to track down and arrest the perpetrators.

“We condemn this act of violence and assure the public that intensive operations are underway to apprehend the suspects,” the Columbio MPS said in an official statement. “We remain committed to protecting our communities and ensuring peace and order in the municipality.”

Police investigators are now working to identify the suspects and determine their possible motive behind the attack.

The incident has sparked outrage among residents, who called for stronger security measures to protect the elderly and other vulnerable members of the community.
