PROSPERIDAD, Agusan del Sur – A policewoman lost her life while her husband remains in critical condition after their motorcycle was accidentally run over by a passenger bus on Monday evening, October 13, 2025, in Purok 1, Barangay Awa, Prosperidad.
Authorities identified the fatality as PSSg Jackie Lou S. Paniza, a member of the Philippine National Police and a resident of Purok 9, Poblacion, Prosperidad. Her husband, Jonathan Moscosa, also from the same barangay, sustained severe injuries and was rushed to the hospital for treatment.
According to the Prosperidad Municipal Police Station, the couple was on their way home from work aboard a black motorcycle when it accidentally veered into a deep pothole along the national highway. The impact caused the motorcycle to lose balance and fall on the road, just as a bus driven by Fuctoso Venturado Larobis Jr., 58, a resident of Purok Centro Central, Tarragona, Davao Oriental, was following behind.
The bus hit the victims, resulting in fatal injuries to PSSg Paniza. She was immediately brought to a nearby hospital but was declared dead on arrival by the attending physician.
Police have taken both the bus and its driver into custody for proper investigation, as authorities continue to probe other possible causes of the tragic incident.
In a statement, the Agusan del Sur Police Provincial Office (ADSPPO) expressed its deep sorrow over the loss of one of its members, extending condolences to Paniza’s family and loved ones.
“May her soul find eternal peace in the loving embrace of our Creator, and may the cherished memories she left behind bring comfort and strength to everyone mourning her loss. Her life and kindness will forever be remembered in our hearts,” the statement read.
The PRO13 family vowed to honor the service and dedication of PSSg Paniza, who was remembered by colleagues for her commitment and compassion in performing her duties.
