QUEZON, BUKIDNON — Police authorities in Quezon, Bukidnon, are conducting a hot pursuit operation to capture a suspect involved in the shooting of a 53-year-old man in Barangay 2, Poblacion, late Monday morning.

The victim, identified as Jovannie D. Lamban, a resident of Purok Mabuhay, Barangay Salawagan, sustained two gunshot wounds to his left hand after being shot around 11:00 a.m. He was immediately brought to St. Ann Hospital for medical treatment and is now in stable condition.

According to Police Master Sergeant Warren R. Osic, investigator of the Quezon Municipal Police Station, the suspect was identified as Arnil Calubong, a neighbor and worker of the victim. Initial investigation revealed that the incident stemmed from a heated argument after Lamban accused Calubong of stealing his son’s pair of shoes. The confrontation allegedly escalated until the suspect drew a firearm and shot the victim.

Authorities have since launched an intensive investigation and are tracking down Calubong, who fled the scene after the shooting. The Quezon PNP has urged residents to report any information on the suspect’s whereabouts to help speed up the resolution of the case.

Police assured the public that they are determined to bring the suspect to justice and maintain peace and order in the municipality.
