DAVAO CITY — What started as a police response to a bank alarm near the Matina Public Market on Thursday night, October 10, 2025, led authorities to an unexpected discovery involving a 17-year-old runaway allegedly behind a theft incident.

At around 11:35 p.m., personnel from Talomo Police Station 3 were responding to a reported alarm when they noticed a suspicious young man loitering near the area. The officers approached the minor, identified only as alias “Mark,” and questioned why he was still out late at night.

Upon inspection, the police found several wristwatches of various brands inside the bag he was carrying. When asked about the items, the teenager eventually admitted that he had stolen them from a watch repair stall located beneath the pedestrian overpass in Matina Crossing, Davao City.

Responding officers proceeded to the location of the alleged theft and confirmed that the stall had indeed been forcibly opened.

Initial investigation revealed that the minor had run away from home following a misunderstanding with his father.

The suspect has been turned over to the Women and Children Protection Desk (WCPD) of the Talomo Police Station. Coordination has also been made with the City Social Welfare and Development Office (CSWDO) for the filing of appropriate charges and the necessary intervention for the minor.
