KIDAPAWAN CITY, Philippines – Authorities arrested a suspected major drug den operator following an intense shootout during a joint raid launched by the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) Region 12 and the Kidapawan City Police early Monday morning, October 27, 2025, at Alim Street, Poblacion.

The target, identified as Omar Nasrudin, also known as “Tagum” Nasrodin Dumacon, allegedly opened fire at law enforcers serving a search warrant at his residence around 9:00 a.m., prompting authorities to return fire. After a brief exchange of gunfire, Nasrudin was subdued and arrested.

Three individuals believed to be his customers were caught in the act inside the suspected drug den, while two others—believed to be his accomplices—were apprehended shortly after attempting to flee the scene. In total, seven suspects were taken into custody.

Law enforcers confiscated a significant quantity of suspected illegal drugs, several firearms, and assorted ammunition during the operation. The seized evidence is currently being inventoried by PDEA agents.

Kidapawan City Mayor Atty. Paolo Evangelista personally rushed to the site following the successful raid and issued a firm warning to drug pushers operating in the city.

“I’m willing to risk my life and safety just to end the drug problem in Kidapawan City,” Evangelista declared. “This marks the beginning of our intensified campaign to shut down drug pushers and drug dens in our city. My deepest thanks to the PNP and PDEA for their swift and effective action. We will not stop here — there will be more to follow. Be warned.”

The morning operation was part of the city government’s continuing anti-drug campaign in partnership with national law enforcement agencies. Authorities emphasized that the arrest of Nasrudin — reportedly one of the city’s most notorious drug personalities — sends a strong message to other illegal drug operators still active in the area.

All arrested suspects are now under the custody of PDEA-12 and are facing multiple charges for violation of the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 and illegal possession of firearms.

Mayor Evangelista reiterated his administration’s unwavering stance against illegal drugs, emphasizing that Kidapawan City’s war on drugs will be pursued “without fear or favor.”
