LANAO DEL NORTE — A joint anti-illegal logging operation conducted on the evening of October 21, 2025, led to the confiscation of more than 3,700 board feet of undocumented forest products in Barangay Poblacion, Bacolod, Lanao del Norte.

At around 9:30 p.m., combined personnel from the Department of Environment and Natural Resources – CENRO Iligan City, 1st Provincial Mobile Force Company (PMFC), Lanao del Norte Police Provincial Office (LDNPPO), Bacolod Municipal Police Station, and the 52nd Mechanized Company, 5th Mechanized Battalion, Philippine Army, carried out a coordinated operation targeting illegal and undocumented forest products.

Authorities recovered a total of 3,701.331 board feet of falcata lumber valued at approximately ₱92,533.27, broken down as follows:

  • 1,000 pieces of assorted falcata lumber (2,069.332 board feet), worth ₱51,733.30, allegedly owned by alias “Ori”, a resident of Purok 3, Barangay Poblacion, Bacolod, who remains at large.
  • 772 pieces of assorted falcata lumber (1,631.999 board feet), worth ₱40,799.97, reportedly owned by alias “Marki” of Purok 1, the same barangay.

An on-site inventory was conducted in the presence of two Barangay Kagawad of Barangay Poblacion and a media representative, ensuring transparency and adherence to due process.

All confiscated forest products were transported to the DENR-CENRO Office in Iligan City for proper documentation and disposition in compliance with forestry laws and regulations.

The Lanao del Norte Police Provincial Office, under the leadership of PCOL Leo De Leon Sua, Acting Provincial Director, reaffirmed its strong partnership with the DENR and other government agencies in combating illegal logging and other environmental crimes.

“Our collective efforts underscore our commitment to protecting the environment and upholding the law. We will continue to pursue violators and bring them to justice,”
said PCOL Sua.

The LDNPPO also urged the public to remain vigilant and immediately report any illegal logging or other environmental violations to the nearest police station or through official hotlines.
