DAVAO CITY — Authorities arrested a Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP) personnel, tagged as a High-Value Individual (HVI), along with four companions in a dawn buy-bust operation in Purok 2, Barangay Communal, on October 1, 2025.
The primary suspect, identified by police as alias “Amo,” 29, an active BJMP member, was the main target of the sting. Police said he was caught after selling a sachet of suspected shabu to a poseur-buyer in exchange for marked money.
A body search yielded two more sachets of suspected shabu, a ziplocked pack of suspected dried marijuana leaves, and assorted drug paraphernalia. Authorities estimated the confiscated shabu to be worth around ₱30,600, while the seized marijuana had an estimated street value of ₱60,000.
Four other suspects were also arrested during the operation: alias “Bonie,” 31, a craftsman; alias “Bien,” 33, also a craftsman; alias “Arie,” 34; and alias “Caloy,” 23, a craftsman. All are residents of Barangay Communal.
Police said the five suspects will face charges for violating Republic Act 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
Authorities underscored the gravity of the arrest, stressing that one of those caught was a member of the BJMP, an institution tasked to uphold the law and manage the country’s prison facilities.
