QUEZON, Bukidnon — A 42-year-old woman was declared dead on arrival at the Infirmary Rural Health Unit of Quezon, Bukidnon, after sustaining a fatal gunshot wound to the head, allegedly inflicted by her live-in partner on Sunday afternoon.

Police reports revealed that the victim was riding a motorcycle with the 30-year-old suspect on their way home from the public market in Purok 2, Libertad, Quezon. However, just about 100 meters away from the woman’s residence, an argument erupted between the two.

Witnesses recounted that the suspect suddenly stopped the motorcycle, alighted, and pulled out a firearm from his sling bag. Without hesitation, he reportedly shot the victim in the head before fleeing toward the nearby riverbank.

Authorities have launched a hot pursuit operation to track down the suspect, who remains at large as of press time. Investigators are also gathering additional statements from witnesses and looking into the motive behind the killing.

Police condemned the brutal act, stressing that violence against women remains a grave crime punishable under Philippine law.
