MAGALLANES, Agusan del Norte — Police in Magallanes apprehended an intoxicated man in possession of an unlicensed firearm on September 19, 2025, following a tip-off from a concerned citizen.
The suspect was identified as Ryan C. Quipit, 40, a resident of Barangay Sto. Rosario, Magallanes. According to the Agusan del Norte Police Provincial Office (ADN PPO), Quipit was arrested by personnel of the Magallanes Municipal Police Station in Purok-6, Barangay Poblacion.
Authorities confiscated from Quipit a .357 Smith & Wesson revolver with its serial number defaced, along with four live rounds of ammunition.
The arrest came after police received a call reporting that Quipit, allegedly under the influence of alcohol, was seen roaming the area while carrying a firearm.
Police said the suspect was informed of his constitutional rights in a language he understood and is now detained at the Magallanes Municipal Police Station custodial facility. The seized items were also placed under custody as evidence.
A case for violation of Republic Act No. 10591, or the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act, is being prepared against him through an inquest proceeding.
PCOL April Mark C. Young, ADN PPO Provincial Director, lauded the community’s vigilance in reporting the incident.
“AgNorte police give gratitude towards the community for their cooperation and vigilance.
