Agusan del Norte – In a span of two days, the Agusan del Norte Police Provincial Office (ADNPPO) successfully conducted separate anti-illegal drug operations that led to the arrest of two individuals classified as Street Level Individuals (SLIs), and the seizure of suspected shabu and drug paraphernalia.

On July 1, 2025, operatives from the RTR Municipal Police Station (MPS) executed a search warrant in Purok-2, Barangay 2, RTR, leading to the arrest of a 30-year-old male known by the alias “Albaks”, a resident of the said area. Recovered during the operation were suspected illegal drugs locally known as shabu and several drug paraphernalia.

The following day, July 2, 2025, the Agusan del Norte Provincial Intelligence Unit (ADN PIU), in coordination with the 1st ADN Provincial Mobile Force Company (PMFC) and Nasipit MPS, conducted a buy-bust operation in District 3, Barangay Ata-atahon, Nasipit. Arrested was alias “Richard”, a 26-year-old backhoe operator and resident of District 11, Macopa, Barangay Poblacion, Carmen. Confiscated from his possession was shabu estimated to be worth ₱92,000.

Both suspects were properly informed of their constitutional rights in a language they understood and are currently under the custody of their respective municipal police stations. They face charges for violations of Republic Act 9165, also known as the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.

Representatives from the Department of Justice, local media, and barangay officials served as witnesses during both operations.

In a statement, Police Colonel April Mark C. Young, Provincial Director of ADNPPO, reiterated the local police force’s unwavering commitment in the fight against illegal drugs.

“Agusan del Norte will double its efforts against the drug menace. There is no safe haven for those who sell or use dangerous drugs in our communities,” PCOL Young said.

“The collaborative efforts of the police and the community are key in neutralizing drug personalities and eradicating the proliferation of illegal drugs in the province and the entire Caraga region,” he added.

The police leadership urges the public to remain vigilant and continue supporting authorities in their campaign against illegal drugs.
