Sulu Province — Demonstrating solidarity and compassion during times of crisis, the Provincial Government of Sulu has prepared and committed to delivering much-needed relief assistance to communities severely affected by recent storms and monsoon rains.
Led by Sulu Vice Governor Abdusakur M. Tan, the province is set to distribute 2,000 sacks of rice and 1,000 boxes of instant noodles to towns and cities hardest hit by tropical storms Crising, Dante, and Emong, as well as the continuous heavy rains brought by the southwest monsoon or Habagat.
The humanitarian effort, according to the local government, aims not only to provide immediate aid but also to convey the deep empathy and support of the Sulu people to their fellow Filipinos who are still reeling from the impacts of the successive weather disturbances.
“This initiative shows that in times of calamity, compassion, unity, and collective action are key to helping affected communities recover,” said Vice Governor Tan.
Secretary of National Defense Gilberto C. Teodoro Jr. extended his gratitude to the Sulu provincial leadership, particularly Governor Abdusakur Tan II, for the generous contribution. He acknowledged the significance of such support in reinforcing national disaster response efforts.
The relief goods will be distributed in coordination with national and local disaster management offices to ensure that the supplies reach the most affected families in a timely manner.
