CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY — A domestic dispute over a missing P350 from a GCash account escalated into a violent attack after a husband slashed his wife’s face with a samurai in Barangay Balulang on Monday, July 14, 2025.
The suspect, identified only as alias “Win-win,” is now detained at the Maharlika Detention Cell and is facing charges for violating Republic Act 9262 or the Violence Against Women and Their Children (VAWC) Act.
According to a report from Police Station 4 – Carmen, the incident occurred inside the couple’s home in Green Heights. The altercation began when the wife, alias “Inday,” confronted her husband about the unauthorized withdrawal of P350 from her GCash account.
It was later discovered that the suspect had used the money to play the online gambling game “Scatter” and had lost. Enraged after being confronted, the suspect reportedly grabbed a samurai and slashed his wife on the face.
Police confirmed that the victim sustained injuries but is now in stable condition. The case has been referred to the Women and Children Protection Desk (WCPD) for further legal proceedings.
