DAVAO CITY – A 29-year-old construction worker is in critical condition after he was struck in the head with a hammer by his co-worker during a heated altercation inside a construction site at Mountain View, Barangay Catalunan Grande, shortly past midnight on July 23, 2025.

Police identified the victim as alias “Nori” (also referred to as “Norlito”), a resident of Purok 8, Barangay Candalian, Baguio District. The suspect, alias “Nestor” or “Normal,” 35 years old, from Macatabo, Calinan, is now under police custody.

According to witnesses and police reports, both men were drinking before the incident. An argument broke out between them, escalating into a fistfight. The suspect reportedly grabbed a hammer and hit the victim on the head, causing a severe injury.

The victim was immediately rushed to the Southern Philippines Medical Center (SPMC) by the Barangay Catalunan Grande rescue team. As of writing, he remains in critical condition.

The suspect is currently detained at Talomo Police Station and will face charges of frustrated homicide.
