CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY, May 21, 2025 — The Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency Regional Office 10 (PDEA-10) destroyed an estimated ₱13.8 million worth of illegal drugs, drug paraphernalia, and expired medicines in a ceremonial activity held at Cosmopolitan Funeral Homes, Capistrano Street.
The destruction was part of PDEA-10’s ongoing campaign to uphold transparency and integrity in its anti-drug operations.
PDEA-10 Regional Director Atty. Benjamin G. Gaspe led the event, which was also witnessed by PBGEN Jaysen C. De Guzman, Regional Director of the Police Regional Office 10 (PRO10), as well as representatives from the Public Attorney’s Office, Department of Justice Region 10, civil society organizations, elected officials, and members of the media.
Among the drug evidence destroyed were 1,523.5861 grams of shabu valued at ₱10,360,385.48, 18,209.7076 grams of marijuana worth ₱2,776,084.66, marijuana oil worth ₱2,550.00, and expired medicines amounting to ₱695,390.57.
According to PDEA-10, the public destruction of drug evidence reinforces the agency’s commitment to accountability and prevents any risk of the substances being diverted back into communities.
PBGEN De Guzman affirmed the dedication of law enforcement agencies to eliminate illegal drugs and rebuild public trust.
“The destruction of illegal drugs is a concrete way to dispel public doubts and ensure that these substances are not recycled by authorities. PRO10 assures the public that the drugs destroyed will never find their way back into the streets,” he said.
He also thanked PDEA, local government units, stakeholders, the media, and community members for their continued support in the government’s anti-drug campaign.
